In April 2022 the Department of Energy, National Renewable Energy Laboratories, and the North Carolina Coastal Studies Institute hosted the Waves to Water Prize Drink Stage Competition. Water Bros Desal, LLC. was joined by Oneka Technologies, MarkZero Prototypes, and Project 816 in Nag’s Head North Carolina to test the prototype wave-powered desalination devices in the open Ocean.
The deployment successfully demonstrated the device’s ability to withstand the deployment, and recovery processes, the ability to produce water, and the challenges of the marine environment.
